About The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer on our AI Hardware team, you will design and develop mechanical systems for cutting-edge AI hardware at our Memphis datacenters. Your expertise in CAD, mechanical design, and end-user products will drive the creation of reliable, high-performance solutions that power xAI’s mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, including enclosures, cooling systems, and structural assemblies, using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion).
- Build and test prototypes, performing stress, thermal, and performance analyses to ensure designs meet end-user and datacenter requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and product managers, to integrate mechanical designs into AI hardware systems.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance in high-density computing environments.
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
- Innovate to develop mechanical solutions that enhance the efficiency and reliability of AI hardware.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in mechanical design, with a focus on end-user products.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Experience with high-performance computing hardware, datacenter systems, or consumer electronics is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI hardware requirements, such as advanced cooling systems or ruggedized designs for datacenter applications.
- Expertise in mechanical design principles, including material selection, thermal management, and structural analysis.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and iterative design processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
