At Sphero, you can do the work you love, be yourself, and take fun seriously.

What You Will Do

If you share our passion for inspiring the creators of tomorrow and are excited to design lessons and resources to help middle and high school students get started with engineering and robotics, then you might be the Education Content Manager we are searching for. This role will work closely with the Product Team to ensure all of our products, both hardware and software have a content-first approach. The ideal person truly enjoys spending their days writing and creating materials for other teachers to use, whether that be an educator guide, a single lesson, or an entire curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to author and publish lessons, curriculum, and resources for Sphero robots and engineering kits in middle and high school STEM, engineering, and robotics classrooms.
  • Contribute to game design for in-classroom and extra-curricular Sphero competitions, including the authoring of game rules and coaching materials.
  • Collaborate with the Product Team to define and develop new products and ensure they meet specific educational goals and standards.
  • Collect feedback, conduct classroom observations, and collaborate to develop metrics to determine if lessons and resources are achieving goals. Incorporate feedback to improve current and future offerings.
  • Support Marketing and Sales efforts to effectively communicate Sphero offerings to school administrators and decision makers.
  • Align lessons and resources to computer science and career technical education (CTE) standards at international, national, and state levels.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience writing and publishing standards-aligned lessons and curriculum for STEM, Robotics, and Engineering products for use outside of their own classroom.
  • Classroom teaching experience in middle and/or high school engineering, robotics, or computer science.
  • Experience with engineering and robotics building platforms popular in classrooms and competitions.
  • Ability to distill complex technologies and concepts into bite size chunks for others, both written and verbally, including in presentations and technical documents.
  • Rigorous attention to detail through evidence of strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices in instructional design with ability to adapt to meet constraints of the project or task at hand.
  • Comfortable offering and receiving critical feedback that move projects forward. A positive, solution-oriented thinker.
  • Familiarity with CAD and 3D printing is a plus.
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

A Day in the Life:

  • Spring out of bed knowing that you get to spend the day positively impacting STEM and CTE education!
  • Check Slack to see what is happening in the company and post your morning update.
  • Get started on your first task for the day: working from an outline to draft a lesson that introduces students to the mechanics of three-jointed robotic arms.
  • Use the Sphero product from your lesson to design a model of the robotic arm. Huddle with a team member to ensure the model teaches students your desired outcomes.
  • Take a stroll outside to get some fresh air and eat lunch.
  • Check Slack and respond to a thread with some coworkers asking for feedback on a new software feature.
  • Join a weekly team meeting to share your status, including recent successes and blockers.
  • Attend a meeting with the Product Team about the development on a new educational product and begin brainstorming a content roadmap.
  • Back to work on the project from the morning. Continue to make progress, this time on things teachers can look for to assess understanding.
  • It’s close to dinner time. Review your progress and make next steps for tomorrow.
  • Connect with your team to communicate any questions or updates you may have (you are encouraged to do this throughout the day)
  • Sign off to spend time doing what makes you happy! Balance is important.

This is your opportunity to impact the STEAM, robotics, and computer science revolution with an inspired, dynamic, innovative team that is transforming the world of PK-12 education. If you’re interested in bringing your unique talent to support our mission, please send us your resume. We look forward to hearing from you!

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $108,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
