About the Role

As one of the most senior engineers at NewtonX, you’ll be instrumental in driving both technical and strategic direction on NewtonX’s technology platforms. With a high velocity team at your disposal you will have responsibility and autonomy to shape the direction of the entire business with features that cut to the core of what users want.

You'll work directly with executives at NewtonX to build a platform that unlocks insights for users in an industry still focused on quarterly batches of expensive data. You will own constructing the next generation of technology needed for human-forward quantitative data about opinions: which we believe will become even more important as AI expands.

You’ll work closely with Design, Product, and our users to build the highest quality product with timelines on the order of weeks and months, not quarters and years. You will still code on occasion, but your most impactful work will be maximizing the quality and output of the code others write through mentorship, standards, and diligence.

Hub and Prime

We’re a small, agile team with huge opportunities for growth focused on building two complementary products: Hub and Prime.

We’re building Hub as the central cockpit for B2B research: turning today’s services into a productized, AI-powered pipeline. You’ll ship self-serve features that allow clients to move from question → answer → follow-up in days, not weeks. The mandate: a world-class quant experience that lets customers configure new work without sales intensive processes, explore results instantly, and surface smart upsells that compound into bigger engagements. Ultimately we want to be the data hub for clients that allows rapid access to insights, not just the data.

In Prime, you’ll scale syndicated B2B data into a modern subscription product: standing up longitudinal trackers, recurring insight streams, and frequently refreshed dashboards/data feeds for underserved markets. The technical edge comes from fusing Prime’s repeatable, decision-grade datasets with each client’s own data in Hub, creating a compounding data moat and rapid insight loops that make NewtonX indispensable. You’ll build automated research products that allow us to always have fresh quantitative insights on opinions across a range of industries, powering the definitive approach to understanding the landscape of business.

What You'll Do

• Drive technical innovation: Research and prototype new AI capabilities, staying current with the latest developments in LLMs and machine learning

• Architect: You will provide the glue and direction between eng pods, helping to guide their technical decisions and tradeoffs of scale vs speed (among many others)

• Outcome-Focus: You will collaborate with others on the team to validate that features released lead to outcomes on a scale that befits your valuable time

• Ensure reliability: Write clean, secure, and performant code that serves enterprise clients with mission-critical requirements

What We're Looking For

Required

• You are a fantastic engineer:

  • You write exceptional code, fast. 3-4 years of experience shipping production code in a fast-paced environment

  • Full-stack expertise: Moderate proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks. Backend experience with Python, Node.js, or similar

• You are a fantastic leader:

  • You communicate exceptionally well. Your ability to coordinate groups through clear communication instead of constant project management allows you to independently manage top-tier talent by giving them the right goals and frameworks instead of constantly managing tasks.

  • You actively mentor and grow those around you. You achieve high-impact results by encouraging and fostering other talented individuals to achieve high-impact results. You focus on the growth of those around you through frequent knowledge sharing and selective technical feedback.

• AI/ML implementation experience: Hands-on experience integrating LLMs, building with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, or implementing ML models in production. We care more about a demonstrated eagerness to learn and an understanding of complex systems than specific years.

• Customer focus: Ability to translate user needs into technical solutions while maintaining engineering best practices

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of RAG systems, embeddings, and semantic search

• Background in B2B SaaS or enterprise software

• Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures

• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects

• Background in statistics and data science
