Overview

The Sr. Manager, Bids and Proposals is responsible for the day-to-day activities and guidance of the Proposal team members: sets targets, implements guidelines, and assists with any issues the employees may have. The Sr. Manager, Bids and Proposals fosters a cohesive, creative, and comfortable working environment, providing leadership and direction where necessary. This role requires extensive experience in managing and working with remote employees. Other duties include proposal management and writing as needed, recognizing and advocating for process improvements or efficiencies, and partnering cross-functionally to build a cohesive response database.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the team’s response meet all compliance and deadline requirements
  • Maintains employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance
  • Advocates and communicates for proposal team with other department managers and leadership
  • Maintains quality proposals by working with team to implement and apply standards; analyze proposals and resolve quality problems; recommending improvements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in related professional groups (i.e. APMP)
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Effectively allocates staff to accomplish productivity and quality goals and maintain a balanced workload
  • Establishes and communicates strategic goals by gathering and analyzing pertinent departmental information
  • Manages preparation and maintenance of department reports and prepare periodic reports for management
  • Facilitates the Bid/No Bid process for all RFP/RFO/RFQ's etc.
  • Contributes to team effort by managing/writing proposals as needed
  • Identifies ways to continuously improve the process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 7 years proposal writing and management experience, APMP certification strongly encouraged
  • Minimum of 2 years managing a team
  • Effectual time and project management skills
  • Ability to delegate and maintain a balanced team workload
  • Communicates in a professional and credible manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, computer, and organizational skills
  • Strong written communication, knowledge of technical documentation, layout skills
  • Deadline-oriented, with great attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable in Salesforce

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $95,000 – $110,000. The compensation range is specific to the United States and incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
