The Opportunity

The heart of insitro's strategy is the combination of novel, cutting edge methods in machine learning, biology at scale and small molecule discovery. One focus area of insitro's approach to rethink drug development is the ability to generate high-dimensional functional perturbation data using in vitro cellular disease models at scale in order to power cutting edge machine learning and to gain novel biological insights. As a Scientist, you will work closely with our data scientists, software engineers, biologists, and automation engineers in cross-functional teams to develop human cell-based translation assays to drive our target discovery and validation programs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting edge omics tools in house as well as improving upon our current platform. This role will be responsible for developing standardized processes for these activities and characterizing key assays and cell systems to develop novel assays that enable the interpretation of omics datasets at scale. The ideal candidate will have cell culture experience across multiple human cell types (e.g., primary and iPSC-derived cell types), be comfortable with a variety of genomics modalities (e.g.,epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics) and be familiar with CRISPR-based workflows.

You will be joining a biotech startup that has long-term stability due to significant funding, providing many opportunities for meaningful impact. This is an onsite role where you will be in our South San Francisco office 5x/week. You will work closely with a very talented team, learn a broad range of skills, and help shape insitro's culture, strategic direction, and outcomes. Join us, and help make a difference to patients!

About You

  • PhD or equivalent experience in life sciences (bioengineering, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, etc.)
  • Provide deep technical expertise in molecular biology to optimize nucleic acid chemistry and develop novel -omics readouts
  • Experience with developing high throughput single cell genomics assays (scRNA-seq, scATACseq, etc).
  • Interested in working as part of a high-performance team, including goal setting, and contributing to a culture of effective, high-quality methods development and reducing those methods to a practical implementation
  • Knowledgeable of assay best practices including assay qualification, experimental design and data analysis
  • Other criteria will include: excellent teamwork, communication, time management and organization skills; interest in collaborating with data scientists or computational biologists, engineers and experimental biologists

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CRISPR screening
  • Experience working with automated NGS library prep methods

About insitro
insitro is a drug discovery and development company using machine learning (ML) and data at scale to decode biology for transformative medicines. At the core of insitro’s approach is the convergence of in-house generated multi-modal cellular data and high-content phenotypic human cohort data. We rely on these data to develop ML-driven, predictive disease models that uncover underlying biologic state and elucidate critical drivers of disease. These powerful models rely on extensive biological and computational infrastructure and allow insitro to advance novel targets and patient biomarkers, design therapeutics and inform clinical strategy. insitro is advancing a wholly owned and partnered pipeline of insights and therapeutics in neuroscience, oncology and metabolism. Since launching in 2018, insitro has raised over $700 million from top tech, biotech and crossover investors, and from collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.
