The Opportunity

As an Associate Scientist in the Bioassays, Arrayed Screening, and insitro Cell Models group, you will help to establish robust, high throughput iPSC differentiation techniques to produce critical cell-types to model various diseases. You will be involved with the incorporation, adaptation to automation, and scale-up of established protocols, as well as the development of novel differentiation methods using insitro's data-driven functional genomics approaches. We are looking for motivated candidates who want to be part of a unique, cross-disciplinary team of biologists, bioengineers, machine learning and data scientists and who have a passion for making a difference! This role is onsite at our SSF office and will report to the Senior Scientist, Bioassays and Arrayed Screening.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish and scale up robust iPSC differentiation techniques for disease modeling.
  • Incorporate and execute established protocols and develop novel differentiation paradigms.
  • Engineer cell lines and develop cellular models of disease that can be scaled across numerous patient donor cell lines.
  • Execute quality control of mammalian cell culture material via FACS, transcriptomics, or high-content imaging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of predictive machine learning models through the provision of high-quality cellular data.

About You

  • B.S. or M.S. in biological science with preference for stem cell biology expertise, bioengineering or relevant disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience, in academia or in industry
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and development and execution of complex cell-based assays
  • Experience with pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation
  • Experience in biological assays to characterize cellular material: PCR, flow cytometry, bulk or single-cell RNA sequencing, and immunostaining
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers, particularly in relation to cell culture techniques
  • Excellent lab practice, detailed notebook organization, and communication skills

About insitro
insitro is a drug discovery and development company using machine learning (ML) and data at scale to decode biology for transformative medicines. At the core of insitro’s approach is the convergence of in-house generated multi-modal cellular data and high-content phenotypic human cohort data. We rely on these data to develop ML-driven, predictive disease models that uncover underlying biologic state and elucidate critical drivers of disease. These powerful models rely on extensive biological and computational infrastructure and allow insitro to advance novel targets and patient biomarkers, design therapeutics and inform clinical strategy. insitro is advancing a wholly owned and partnered pipeline of insights and therapeutics in neuroscience, oncology and metabolism. Since launching in 2018, insitro has raised over $700 million from top tech, biotech and crossover investors, and from collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.
