About Hexagon Bio

Hexagon Bio leverages a genomics-based platform and understanding of natural product evolution to develop next-generationantibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) with novel payloads for cancer. We use data science, genomics, machine learning, synthetic biology, and automation to discover potent, evolutionarily refined small molecules from microbial genomes, and apply medicinal chemistry to optimize these molecules into truly transformative medicines.

We are expanding our medicinal chemistry team and have an opening at the Scientist I/II/Senior Scientist level. As a medicinal chemist at Hexagon Bio, you will work closely with the natural products chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biology teams to support drug discovery projects. You will design and synthesize novel, optimized small molecules to enable the discovery and characterization of ADC development candidates suitable for human clinical testing. You will have substantial opportunities to grow your career through project-associated activities and cross-functional interaction with the many scientific disciplines at Hexagon Bio.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure-based and hypothesis-driven design of new ADC payload and linker-payload drug compounds
  • Multistep synthesis, purification, and characterization of new ADC payload and linker-payload drug compounds
  • May manage of aspects of a drug discovery program
  • May manage chemistry at a contract research organization

Requirements:

  • Scientist I: Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry, and 0+ years postdoctoral and/or industry experience
  • Scientist II: Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry, and 2+ years postdoctoral and/or industry experience
  • Senior Scientist: Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry, and 4+ years postdoctoral and/or industry experience
  • Ability to perform complex multistep synthesis quickly, efficiently, and safely
  • Ability to effectively summarize and communicate research findings
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at Menlo Park, CA laboratories

Additional Information:

The salary range is dependent on the level of experience. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across California locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
